摘要: The lattice model proposed by Lenosky et al. [Nature 355, 333(1992)] have been derived to describe the curvature elastic energy of smoothly curved fullerene surface by Ou-Yang et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 78, 4055(1997)]. Recently, we have extended the lattice model to describe the elastic energy of regular polyhedron. This paper will give the detail derivation of the elastic energy of discrete polyhedric structure. It is shown that the icosahedron is the most optimized structure with minimum elastic energy. 摘要: The air/water interface was simulated and the mode amplitudes and their ratios of the effective nonlinear sum-frequency generation (SFG) susceptibilities (A(eff)'s) were calculated for the ssp, ppp, and sps polarization combinations and compared with experiments. By designating "surface-sensitive'' free OH bonds on the water surface, many aspects of the SFG measurements were calculated and compared with those inferred from experiment. We calculate an average tilt angle close to the SFG observed value of 35, an average surface density of free OH bonds close to the experimental value of about 2.8 x 10(18) m(-2), computed ratios of A(eff)'s that are very similar to those from the SFG experiment, and their absolute values that are in reasonable agreement with experiment. A one-parameter model was used to calculate these properties. The method utilizes results available from independent IR and Raman experiments to obtain some of the needed quantities, rather than calculating them ab initio. 摘要: The structural phase transition and electronic properties at ambient (B-1-phase) and high pressure (B-2-phase) of heavy rare earth monoantimonides (RESb; RE = Ho, Er, and Tm) have been studied theoretically using the self-consistent tight binding linear muffin tin orbital method. These compounds show metallic behavior under ambient condition and undergo a structural phase transition to the B-2 phase at high pressure. We predict a structural phase transition from the B-1 to B-2 phase in the pressure range 30.0-35.0 GPa. 摘要: We have developed a quantum noise approach for studying quantum transport through nanostructures. The nanostructures, such as quantum dots, are regarded as artificial atoms, subject to quasi-equilibrium fermionic reservoirs of electrons in biased leads. Noise operators characterizing the quantum fluctuation in the reservoirs are related to the damping and fluctuation of the artificial atoms through the quantum Langevin equation. The average current and current noise are derived in terms of the reservoir noise correlations. In the white-noise limit, we show that the current and current noise can be calculated exactly by the quantum noise approach, even in the presence of interactions such as Coulomb blockade. 摘要: Systematical calculations on the alpha-decay half-lives of even-even medium mass nuclei with 82 < N <= 126 are carried out within the density-dependent cluster model using a two-potential approach. The decay width is achieved in terms of the bound state wavefunction, the scattering wavefunction and the outer potential, where the effective alpha-nucleus potential is obtained from the double-folded integral of the realistic nucleon-nucleon interaction with the mass distributions of a particle and daughter nucleus. Instead of the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) barrier penetration probability, the numerical solution of the Schrodinger equation for the bound state is presented. In addition, the shell effect on the alpha-preformation factor has been taken into account for even-even N = 126 isotones. 摘要: In the spirit of the AdS/CFT correspondence, we investigate the hydrodynamics of the dual conformal field in the Gauss-Bonnet gravity. By considering the parameters of the boosted black brane in the Gauss-Bonnet gravity as functions of boundary coordinates, and then solving the corresponding correction terms, we calculate the first order stress-energy tensor of the dual conformal field. From this first order stress-energy tensor, we also obtain the shear viscosity and entropy density. 摘要: In this paper, we study the tree amplitudes with gluons coupled to gravitons. We first study the relations among the mixed amplitudes. With BCFW on-shell recursion relation, we show the color-order reversed relation, U(1)-decoupling relation and KK relation hold for tree amplitudes with gluons coupled to gravitons. We then study the disk relation which expresses mixed amplitudes by pure gluon amplitudes. More specifically we prove the disk relation for mixed amplitudes with gluons coupled to one graviton. Using the disk relation and the properties of pure gluon amplitudes, the color-order reversed relation, U(1)-decoupling relation and KK relation for mixed amplitudes can also be proved. 摘要: Cosmic ray anomalies observed by PAMELA and Fermi-LAT experiments may be interpreted by heavy (TeV-scale) dark matter annihilation enhanced by Sommerfeld effects mediated by a very light (sub-GeV) U(1)(X) gauge boson, while the recent direct searches from CoGeNT and DAMA/LIBRA experiments may indicate a rather light (similar to 7GeV) dark matter with weak interaction. Motivated by these apparently different scales, we consider a gauge mediated next-to-the minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM) entended with a light U(1)(X) sector plus a heavy sector ((H) over barh, Hh), which can provide both a light (similar to 7GeV) and a heavy (TeV-scale) dark matter without introducing any ad hoc new scale. Through the Yukawa coupling between Hh and the messager fields, the U(1)(X) gauge symmetry is broken around the GeV scale radiatively and a large negative m(S)(2) is generated for the NMSSM singlet S. Furthermore, the small kinetic mixing parameter between U(1)(X) and U(1)(Y) is predicted to be theta similar to 10(-5) - 10(-6) after integrating out the messengers. 摘要: Halo phenomenon in deformed nuclei is studied by using a fully self-consistent deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov model in a spherical Woods-Saxon basis with the proper asymptotic behavior at large distance from the nuclear center. 摘要: We explore how to cool collective atomic excitations in an optically-driven three-level atomic ensemble, which may be described by a model of two coupled harmonic oscillators (HOs) with a time-dependent coupling. Moreover, the model of two coupled HOs is further generalized to address the resolved sideband cooling issues, where the lower-frequency HO can be cooled whenever the cooling process dominates over the heating one during the sideband transitions. Unusually, due to the absence of the heating process, the optimal result for cooling collective excitations in an atomic ensemble could break the standard resolved sideband cooling limit for general models of two coupled HOs.2013-05-17T03:23:48Z
