COEXISTENCE OF ATTRACTORS INDUCED BY INTERACTION BETWEEN DISCONTINUITY AND NON-INVERTIBILITY

AbstractA parameter region where two periodic attractors coexist has been observed in a piecewise linear map which is both discontinuous and non-invertible. At the beginning of the region a pair of special discontinuities is suddenly created by the interaction between the discontinuity and non-invertibility in the 3-fold map. While at the end of the region the coexisting attractor collides with the boundary of its basin, i.e. one of these discontinuities.
