(Beta)over-bar(0)->pi X+ in the standard model

AbstractWe investigate the possibility of studying the B-->pi form factor using the semi-inclusive decays (B) over bar (0)-->pi(+)+X-q. In general, B-->PX semi-inclusive decays involve several hadronic parameters. However, for (B) over bar (0)-->pi(+)X(q) decays, we find that in the factorization approximation, the only unknown hadronic parameters are the form factors F-0,1(B-->pi). Therefore, these form factors can be studied in (B) over bar (0)-->pi(+)X(q) decays. Using theoretical model calculations for the form factors, the branching ratios for (B) over bar (0)-->pi(+)X(d)(DeltaS=0) and (B) over bar (0)-->pi(+)X(s)(DeltaS=-1), with E-pi>2.1 GeV, are estimated to be in the ranges of (3.1-4.9)x10(-5)[F-1(B-->pi)(0)/0.33](2) and (2.5-4.2)x10(-5)[F-1(B-->pi)(0)/0.33](2), respectively, depending on the value of the CP-violating phase gamma. The combined branching ratio for (B) over bar (0)-->pi(+)(X-d+X-s) is about 7.4x10(-5)[F(1)(B-->)pi(0)/0.33](2) and is insensitive to gamma. We also discuss CP asymmetries in these decay modes.
