摘要We propose a scheme for entangling two field modes in two high-Q optical cavities. Using a virtual two-photon process, our scheme provides us a new kind of nonlinear interaction among the cavity modes that is very different from the Kerr interaction. Through this interaction maximally entangled states for the two modes may be achieved. The ideal implementation of our proposal requires no real population transitions of atomic internal states, hence it is immune to atomic decay.
